Prep Notes for Scouters

Arrival and Sled Inspection

After arrival, your Patrols will have their sled inspected.  This may be a good time for one or more Scouters to go further onto the site and set up activities.  During sled inspection, the contents of the sleds will be checked, and then the participants will be asked to repack and secure the sled,  The sled will be turned over to ensure that all items are secured.  This will also be scored.

Number of youth to prepare for as an activity station

The schedule works to maintain two sleds per site, as participant number can vary  from 4 to 7 youth per sled, per rotation you may have 8 to 14 youth at your activity site. You will need to prepare for variations in numbers and scale accordingly through the  8 activity rotations.

Activity set-up

Where possible prepare ahead of the event to facilitate an easy setup and take down of the activity.  If you wish to setup on the day before Klondike, contact the Games Coordinator. On the activity submission form,, identify if there are specific items that may be provided from Carleton stores (Staves, Snowshoes, firewood, etc.). You may wish to bring some lawn chairs or something to sit on during the Derby, as well as insulated coffee cups.

Scoring

A scoring spreadsheet is provided to score the team, the max score for team is 10 points.  Scores are gathered at Noon and at end of day and calculated into an overall score for team. See the judging page for a sample score sheet, and instructions on judging.

Lunch

Before eating lunch, Scouts will move to the station they will attend first after the lunch period.
