Scouters & OOS
Welcome, as a Scouter or Offer of Service you are a key member of the organizing committee. during the Klondike Derby, each sled is under Scout control. Each Patrol is expected to be able to operate on its own, moving from town to town.
If your Troop is new to the Deby and also need to build a sled a potential meeting plan can be found at: Troop Meeting Planning for a Derby
the Scouter's task is to identify an activity, set it up and run it for the duration of the derby. Teams rotate every 30 mins.
Offer of Service tasks include Help with set-up and take down, Parking Control, Sled Checks, First Aid and assisting at activities.
Like the Scouts you will need to dress for the weather, check the Scouter & OOS Kit List for recommendations.
There is also a Sled List, depending on the maturity of your patrol and access to troop equipment, you may need to help the troop members gather their material. Each sled needs to come fully equipped with needed equipment. The Sled team will be responsible for packing their sleds and securing all equipment so when the sled is turned upside down nothing will fall out.
Individual Scouts/Scouters/Patrol will be responsible bringing their meals for the day. Please ensure you come self contained with food, snacks and water for the day.
